Phoenix Stroke Appeal receiving their Cheque 2011

Thursday the 24th November 2011 was the evening that all the efforts of Dougie and Jenny with their annual Harvest Festival came to the handing over of monies. The regulars of the pub helped to raise the sum of £2760 which was this year being donated to the Phoenix Stroke Appeal. Rik Evans of the stroke appeal along with his wife came to the Trefusis to collect the cheque on behalf of the appeal. This coincided with the pub's annual wine tasting evening which again was another great success.

Rik gave a short talk on the appeal and was very appreciative of all the efforts made by everyone to raise the money.
In an email from Rik to Doug the next day in order to publicise the event and give the Trefusis some recognition, Rik sent an email to Daphne Skinnard of Radio Cornwall in an effort to get her to produce an item on her radio show broadcasting the achievements of the Trefusis over the years for the numerous charities it has helped.

Hi Daphne Rosalind and I went to the Trefusis Arms in Redruth last night to receive a cheque for £2760 which had been raised during a harvest festival. This is a magnificent donation from a small community pub. The hospitality and atmosphere in the pub was exemplary, we both came away inspired by the welcome we received ( as well as the wine). It would be good if next time you have a reporter in Redruth you could go and interview them, they have a great story to tell.
